The Secret of the Wee Wee

So Cooper spent lunch time at work with Daddy today which apparently was highly enjoyable because he didn't sleep on the way to Daddy's work, the entire time he was with Daddy and the car ride home. So once we got home it was time to eat again and time for a diaper change. The eating and diaper change went as usual, or so I thought. Apparently at some point after I put Coop in the swing he decided to projectile vomit while peeing out the side of his diaper soaking himself and launching into hysterics. While diaper changing isn't hard I do tend to forget the secret of the wee wee, which for boys, happens to be pointing the wee wee down in his diaper or chaos tends to occur. So after the projectile vomit and pee incident I quickly stripped him down and tried to quickly bathe him which didn't work very well either because as soon as the air hits his wee wee and he gets cold he pees so while I was trying to clean the vomit and pee off of him in the tub he ended up peeing into the tub thus bathing in his own pee......it was a rough afternoon. We've recovered fairly well thanks to a nice nap with Mommy. Here are after pics of him completely wiped out :).

Quick update

Cooper's pediatrician appointment went fantastically today. He is up to 6 pounds 15 ounces now so he gained 10 ounces in 8 days which is great. The best news of all is that we can let him sleep as long as he wants through the night and no longer have to wake him up for feedings every 3 hours! This was music to Mommy's ears...now hopefully my freakish rash-hive outbreak will go away.

My apologies to those who have been checking for new photos - things have been a bit hectic here and by the time I have access to the computer I usually end up falling asleep. Cooper is doing just peachy, he's wearing his Mommy and Daddy out these days. He is more awake each day now which is keeping things interesting. He loves to take naps on our belly's as long as he is belly down and he's become very good at picking his head up and switching sides for his comfort. His appetite also is growing and I'm having a hard time keeping up with it....we'll see what the scale says when we go back to the pediatrician this coming week. We've also started going on walks in his new Jeep jogger and he loves them. He spent all of Saturday with his Dad so I could catch up on some sleep.

Happy two week Birthday Coop!

Cooper Jay has quite the appetite. He has gained back all of his weight so he is now back to his birth weight of 6 pounds 5 ounces and that was as of Monday at the pediatrician. He has since developed an even stronger appetite so I'm pretty sure he will quickly be gaining even more weight. The pediatrician gave him all good marks and we go back in one week to make sure he is staying on track. Our days are spent sleeping and eating and pooping at this point. He is certainly living up to his Cooper the pooper nickname by keeping Mom and Dad busy changing poopy diapers all day long. He's awake a little more each day but still sleeping well, it's just hard for us to get used to waking up every 3 hours to feed him regardless of him wanting to sleep. He also sucked his thumb for the first time today. He's very big on using his hands, he holds his pacifier in his mouth and we are constantly fighting his hands when I nurse him or when he gets a bottle and we even saw him sucking his hand on one of our ultrasounds so the thumb sucking was inevitable. Homecoming Weekend

Cooper Jay came home on Friday finally. We spent the weekend adjusting our sleeping habits :) and enjoying not making trips to the NICU. He spent some quality time with his grandparents , cousins, his Aunt Laurie and his Aunt Jo as well. The cats are adjusting well although we did have to bargain a little with Dolce by giving her a nice big box to play with. The home health care nurse came to the house on Saturday to check that he was doing well still and he passed with flying colors. Cooper has begun making squeaky baby noises which freaked us out at first b/c we were paranoid thinking it was problems with his breathing but the nurse reassured us he's just squeaky. He's back up to 6 pounds 2 ounces. We make our first trip to the pediatrician tomorrow. Here are some pictures from the weekend.
