5-10-15

Steve looked at me on Sunday and said "he's going to be one of the popular kids in school". Of course we are totally biased but the fact that Cooper is such a ham can't be a bad thing.

Here's a news flash, Steve and I have slept almost entirely uninterrupted and alone in our bed since last Thursday! Of course I was sick again and didn't sleep on Friday or Saturday night but the fact that I could even not sleep in my bed was a nice thought. Now let me make it clear, none of the credit should go to me and all of the credit should go to Steve on this one. As shocking as this may seem, I have not been one to be able to handle the "cry it out" method when it comes to sleeping. According to Steve (which is not entirely true if you ask me), I have the baby monitor turned up as high as it will go and the second Coop even breathes loudly I'm out of bed and in his room. So after a solid 5 weeks of absolutely no sleep and an increasingly crabby household I gave in to Steve and the "cry it out" method with one condition. We use the cry it out 5-10-15 method. So if Coop wakes up and starts crying we let him cry for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes we go in, comfort him and then lay him back in his bed. At that point if he starts to cry again we let him go for 10 minutes before we go back in and then 15 minutes. Steve and I have had debate after heated debate about this b/c as Coop's pediatrician said so perfectly, its an awful feeling for a mom to hear her child cry when she knows she can make it better just by going and holding him. But sleep depravity won out and so we started the 5-10-15 cry it out method. And to my surprise, I learned that my son has most likely been playing us for quite some time now. Because since last Thursday he has only made it past the 5 minutes ONE TIME! Usually by minute 3 he konks out and is down for the night. So thank you husband, for your patience with the both of us :).

Another new development, Coop is in clingy mode. Particularly in the evenings, if we even bend over like we are going to put him down he completely loses it. I was a little afraid that this would be headed to the point where he wouldn't do well with us leaving him in daycare or with my parents but he spent a lovely day with his grandparents and great grandparents on Sunday and daycare has been fine too. So if he's only clingy when we are in sight then I think I'm ok with that - the more hugs the better.

Coop definitely has 6 teeth now but we only have a picture of 2 so here it is....our little ham, being a ham:
